Hi! My name is Antonio.
I am a Principal Data Scientist at Allstate Insurance. I'm currently working on models for identification of claims risks. I've developed several solutions, from computer vision models for automatic extraction of property insights to LLM-based agentic processing of structured and unstructured data, and a strategic framework and methods for auto risk modeling in the context of vehicles with automated driving systems (ADS).
Prior to Allstate, I was a project lead and advanced machine learning researcher with ExxonMobil. First with ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company in Houston, TX, and, later on, with Corporate Strategic Research, ExxonMobil Research and Engineering (now ExxonMobil Technology and Engineering Company), in Annandale, New Jersey.
Throughout my industry career, I have led many machine learning projects and developed many custom machine learning methods for business needs (see my publications or full bio). These include volumetric image analysis, fault detection in chemical processes, safety data analytics and optimization, microbial growth modeling, bioinformatics, uncertainty quantification in geophysical inverse problems, and gathering insights from aerial imagery. in my academic work before that, I developed algorithms for cell detection, identification, and reconstruction from electron microscope image volumes during my post-doc at the University of Utah.
During my graduate studies at the University of Florida, I introduced a kernel-based framework for developing machine learning methods for analyzing neural spike train data. That research served as the basis for developing new methods on Brain-Machine Interfaces. Additionally, I developed information-theoretic learning algorithms.
